FOKAL offers Haiti's youth a series of activities that develop critical thinking, knowledge, entrepreneurship, debate skills, tolerance, academic success and creativity. The following programs focus on developing the next generation of leaders in Haiti:
Debate Clubs: This project helps youth learn debate techniques which develop critical thinking, free expression, independent research and problem solving skills. There are 14 clubs Vague du futur in the country that hold weekly meetings with about twenty members each. They debate on pre-established resolutions, prepare tournaments, and discuss current affairs.
Scholarships: FOKAL manages a college scholarship fund for students showing academic excellence – targeting particularly students from underprivileged families and recommended by our partner institutions. Scholarships are awarded to 100 gifted students in local universities. Limited co-funding is also available for overseas studies awarded for academic excellence by other institutions to students or young professionals committed to return to Haiti.
